Welcome to the Bafang Wushu Training Centre (Singapore).

The Bafang Wushu Centre is led by Master Ge Chunyan who started her martial arts career at a young age as member of the elite Beijing Wushu team. She is an Eight duan Wushu coach and had previously also coached the Beijing Wushu Team.

Throughout her career she was guided and taught by a significant number of traditional martial arts experts including Feng Zhiqiang, Sun Zhijun, Lei Muni, Liu JIngru, Sha Guozheng, Li Ziming, Li Junfeng, Wu Bin, Men Huifeng, Zhang Guangde, Tian Hui, Hong Junsheng, Wu Tunan, Sun JIanyun and many more.

Master Ge established the Singapore Bafang Wushu Centre in 2004, to help teach the traditional martial arts with an emphasis on the three so called internal arts of Baguazhang, Taijiquan and Xingyiquan. The Centre aims to ensure the highest quality of teaching and practice across its representative martial arts with an equal emphasis on self defense and health cultivation.

Baguazhang | 八卦掌 Taijiquan | 太极拳 Xingyiquan | 形意拳

Baguazhang's techniques and movements utilize the whole body with smooth coiling and uncoiling actions, that are undertaken in conjunction with hand techniques, dynamic footwork and powerful throws. Rapid accelerating power is generated through the centre and the unique circular stepping builds centriputal force that allows practitioners to overpower the opponents.

Taijiquan emphasises the principles of Yin and yang (Taiji) and it's Chan Si Jing or a spiral-like momentum of force and its harmonious balance of contradicting movements through the centre. Another distinctive Chen Style characteristic is the sudden release of bursts of energy or power. In combat Tajiquan emphasizes neutralizing and the concept of borrowing force.

Xingyi Quan is characterized by aggressive, seemingly linear movements and explosive power that's most often applied from a short range. Xingyiquan's foundation is on five phases and its core is with the 12 animals. A practitioner of Xing Yi uses coordinated movements to generate bursts of power intended to overwhelm the opponent, simultaneously attacking and defending.
